Our Focus is Off, by Patricia Lightner
Americans are horrified at the recent attempted airline bombing by an al-Qaeda trained man on Christmas Day near Detroit. While we are fortunate that this attack on American soil was not successful, I am extremely concerned about the systems in place at our airports, the leadership and competence of those in this Administration, and the conduct of the War on Terror in general. Americans justifiably demand accountability from those in charge.

We should have been concerned when the Obama Administration stopped referring to this war as a “War on Terror’. A mere change in rhetoric may seem like meaningless semantics, but it reflects a mindset and a misunderstanding of the magnitude of the challenges we face. It’s not just that a system isn’t working - our entire focus is off - and we need to get serious about vigilance and security before it’s too late.

While Department of Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano may think “the system worked”, most Americans understand that we came within a whisker of a successful terror attack on American soil. Furthermore, with yet another security breach last week in Newark, stranding thousands of airline passengers for hours - creating a dangerous incident in itself due to the extreme crowding and mass chaos - it is becoming increasingly apparent the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Homeland Security operations are a mess.

In the Newark incident, TSA cameras were not even working, so the gross incompetence is strikingly clear - and the responsibility for that starts at the top. Inexcusably, there is no one at the top of TSA. The position has been vacant throughout the entire first year of this presidency. Instead of withdrawing Erroll Southers’s nomination to lead TSA, Mr. Obama continues to stand by a man who misled Congress about how he not once, but twice, misused his power as an FBI agent to retrieve confidential information in order to intimidate a woman.

I am also concerned about the entire focus of the War on Terror. While extremists around the globe plot to attack Americans and our allies, the Obama Administration is moving terror suspects from Guantanamo Bay to our back yard in Illinois. When an attack is nearly carried out on U.S soil, the Administration responds with talking about plea bargains and a criminal trial for the would-be-killer, as if this were an episode of Law & Order.

Terrorists and jihadists will stop at nothing to kill Americans, and we need an Administration with policies in place that reflect this reality. It shouldn’t take a ‘near miss’ or massive chaos in an airport to bring this about - it should be a constant, everyday reality for those who we have entrusted to protect us.

If elected, I will work to sharpen our focus and keep our eye on the ball. Our liberty is at stake, and we must never relent in defending America.

Sincerely,
Patricia Lightner

Call for Senator John Vratil to Resign
The Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission establishes and monitors campaign finance requirements

Article 19-23-1  http://ethics.ks.gov/statsandregs/19-23-1.html  provides the requirements of what constitutes a campaign expense and repeatedly states "the primary purpose of such direct costs is to influence the nomination or election of the candidate."

Maybe past practices have allowed the Ethics Commission to overlook the regulations they are by law required to enforce, I do not know.  I can only read what's on the Kansas.gov web site.  Senator John Vratil has recently submitted signed reports:  http://ethics.ks.gov/CFAScanned/Senate/2008ElecCycle/200807/S11JV_amend0807.pdf
Paid expenses totaling several thousand dollars where made to enhance the Senator's personal and professional resume and in some cases just plain blatant entertainment which fail "the primary purpose of such direct costs is to influence the nomination or election of the candidate" test.

As a result and assuming that the information used is current and applicable, I call upon Senator John Vratil to resign his position as Kansas State Senate Vice President and to reimburse his campaign fund appropriately.  And NO, I am not a democrat.  And NO, I really don't believe anything will be done about this.

ALR Joins Political Chips

American Liberty Republic has joined the Tea Party Movement under the umbrella of Political Chips. Political Chips has taken the lead in bringing dozens of Tea Party groups together in a Social Network Coalition coordinating and facilitating Tea Party events and rallies.

Political Chips has taken a leadership role in bringing groups together in a number of rallies last year including 9-12 and the Theis Park rallies. Political Chips has partnered with Raging Elephants in calling for diversity within the conservative Republican Party movement. Raging Elephants founder Apostle Claver has made several trips to the Kansas City Metro Area and has been widely received as a major voice of conservatism across the nation.

Political Chips is working with number of groups to organize the Midwest rally in Topeka to support Kansas sovereignty from federal intrusion into state and individual rights over health insurance reform.

Political Chips is also working with Tea Party groups in organizing the largest Tax Day Rally in the Midwest for April 15, 2010 to be held in the Kansas City Metro Area.

"How did I get into this mess?"

Posted below is a comparison of the original ten planks of the Communist Manifesto written by Karl Marx in 1848, along with the American adopted counterpart of each of the planks.

1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rent to public purpose.

The 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (1868), and various zoning, school & property taxes, the Bureau of Land Management, and eminent domain.

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

Misapplication of the 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, 1913, The Social Security Act of 1936.; Joint House Resolution 192 of 1933; and various State "income" taxes. Statists call it "paying your fair share."

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.

Federal & State estate Tax (1916); or reformed Probate Laws, and limited inheritance via arbitrary inheritance tax statutes.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.

Government seizures, tax liens, Public "law" 99-570 (1986);

Executive order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land to the Department of Urban Development; the imprisonment of "terrorists" and those who speak out or write against the "government" (1997 Crime/Terrorist Bill); or the IRS confiscation of property without due process.

5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.

Federal Reserve which is a credit/debt system nationally organized by the Federal Reserve act of 1913. All local banks are members of the Fed system, and are regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Authority has been increased in 2010.

6. Centralization of the means of communication and transportation in the hands of the State.

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated through the ICC act of 1887, the Commissions Act of 1934, The Interstate Commerce Commission established in 1938, The Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Communications Commission, and Executive orders 11490, 10999, as well as State mandated driver's licenses and Department of Transportation regulations.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.

Corporate capacity: The Desert Entry Act and The Department of Agriculture. As well as the Department of Commerce and Labor, Department of Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Mines, National Park Service, and the IRS control of business through corporate regulations.

8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of Industrial armies, especially for agriculture.

Social Security Administration, The Department of Labor and Obama's youth development programs. The National debt and inflation caused by the communal bank has caused the need for a two "income" family. Woman in the workplace since the 1920's, the 19th amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, assorted Socialist Unions, affirmative action, the Federal Public Works Program and of course Executive order 11000.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the population over the country.

The Planning Reorganization act of 1949 , zoning (Title 17 1910-1990) and Super Corporate Farms, as well as Executive orders 11647, 11731 (ten regions) and Public "law" 89-136.

10. Free education for all children in government schools. Abolition of children factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc. etc.

People are being taxed to support what we call 'public' schools, which train the young to work for the communal debt system: the Department of Education, the NEA, NCLB, and Outcome-Based Education.

J.E. Dunn Construction, the 11th largest building contractor in the nation, has left the Kansas Chamber because of the chamber's "narrow agenda."  And J.E. Dunn isn't the first to leave.  Groups like the Heavy Contractors Association of Greater Kansas City and local chambers across the state have also bailed on the state chamber.

Kansas Chamber president Kent Beisner said recent defections by businesses and local chamber groups were regrettable but wouldn't compel the statewide organization to waver from its campaign to awaken Kansans to the value of lower business taxes and a diminished government footprint.
